Post 517 Baseball

 

We will be back in full swing this summer reestablishing our Generals Legion Program as one of the best in Northern California. After having just a junior legion from last year coached by Tony Dress, we’ll have a three teams sponsored by American Legion Post 517.

 Max Luckhurst will be back for his fourth season as our AA Legion coach. Former Lafayette General and professional player, John Zuber, who is the new coach at Acalanes High School, will be involved with all three of our Legion teams. We will have a 15-only junior legion team coached by Dan Crevin and Fred Stone.

 MT Robertson will coach the 17 and under junior legion team along with Coach Zuber. We will draw players from the following high schools:

                         Acalanes High School

                        Alhambra High School

                        Campolindo High School

                        Miramonte High School

 FIELDS:

             15 and under Generals            Campolindo H.S./Alhambra

            17 and under Junior Legion            Campolindo H.S./Alhambra

            AA Legion 19 and under            Campolindo H.S./D.V.C.

 All three legion teams will participate in District Nine American Legion League. However, the 15 and under team will participate in the 15’s only Mickey Mantle Regional in late July. Our other two teams will compete for the Area Tournament also in late July.

 IMPORTANT DATES

 15’s Only: Memorial Day Tournament in Chico—May 29-31, Doryland Park, Chico, CA

June 29: Travel to Oregon—30th game vs. Southern Oregon

July 1-4: Junior Legion Tournament, Roseburg, OR—Home of the l998 American Legion World Series (4,000 Seat Stadium)

District Nine LEGION SCHEDULE Game: 18 games approximately

July 28-August 1: Western Regional for A.A.B.C. Mickey Mantle—Location to be determined

Junior Legion 17 and Under

            July 1-4— Host July 4th Jr. Legion Tournament: Campolindo/Alhambra H.S.

July 7-11—Eugene, OR, Swede Johnson Stadium; 12-team Junior Legion Tournament – wood bat

            District Nine—18 league games

            Area Tournament—August 4-8; host T.B.O.

 AA Legion

            District Nine—18 league games

            June 5-6—League starts

June 23, 6:00am—Depart for Roseburg, OR (6.5 hours. 7:00 pm single (9) game vs. Roseburg Doc Stewart @ stadium

            June 24-27—Doc Stewarts Pepsi Challenge (5-game guarantee)

June 30-July 4—13th Annual Western States Classic, hosted by the Lafayette Generals Baseball Club, St. Mary’s/D.V.C.

            July 8-11—Union City Connie Mack Tournament @ James Logan H.S.

            Area Tournament—July 27-August 1; host T.B.D.

 Our Legion Program is to promote baseball in our communities with the most talented players living in our recruiting area. All the coaches from the different high schools will be involved in the selection process. We should have at least 54 players involved with the Lafayette Generals 2004 American Legion Program.
