The hip initiates on stride foot landing, rotating or “developing” toward the target, initiating the torso’s progressive acceleration culminating in the shoulder transmitting the energy to the arm.
Visualize a fly-rod, or a whip, or a bamboo shoot in the wind. Try to separate the hip initiation from the shoulder, allowing the torso to accelerate and progressively develop toward the target.

The central issue - the Hips. If you take nothing else from this material, take this: do everything from the hips, and you will be moving from strength. Early training here at Bottom of the Ninth is
basically only that - finding how to move from the hips, initiate from the hips, align with the hips, and allow the rest of the body to follow from the hips’ strength. This is true for hitters and position players
as well as pitchers. Learn how to engage the hips and you will prevent injury and maximize power, longevity, velocity, location, and movement.
