Follow-through

On release, the arm continues its energy to arrive near the stride foot before being drawn toward the shoulder in a small spiral. The hip continues toward the target, with the pivot leg rolling over the stride foot to step forward. The eyes have never left the target. And the glove-hand stays near the waist, ready for action. Follow-through is important for 3 reasons: 1. the pitcher decelerates smoothly, avoiding injury; 2. the pitcher arrives in a defensive position to contribute to the infield alignment; 3. the full commitment of energy and weight to the target can be diagnosed dependably by the follow-through to finish.
